They say that judging in one’s own cause is complicated, however, in this specific case, the sentence was swift and appropriate. I, Tam, in an effort to save the judicial system some time, pleaded guilty to all charges, concerning the contents of this work.
These “Six Elegies For The Northern Hemisphere” were composed between 2019 and 2021, in a kind of creative retreat in Alto Minho, near Molêdo. The influences were the Atlantic Ocean at the tip of the nose, Santa Tecla’s hill in the corner of my eye and the stars placed on my forehead, however, when the time for the baptism finally came, the balance tipped over towards the constellations. All in Latin, as astronomers and my particular esteem for dead languages dictate.
As for the musical style, it is up to me to say that the pieces are essentially ambient music with a hint of sea breeze, or dense drones very much alike the typical night fog of that particular region of the country. But, if you prefer, you can also go with the definition that my friend Miguel came up with, some time ago, when he listened to the album for the first time: “This is like a post-rave scene for tired people.”
Love it, or not, the job is done…

Dizem que julgar em causa própria é complicado, porém, neste caso concreto, a sentença foi célere e apropriada. Eu, Tam, num esforço para poupar tempo à justiça, declarei-me como o único culpado do conteúdo desta obra.
As “Seis Elegias Para O Hemisfério Noite” foram compostas entre 2019 e 2021, numa espécie de retiro criativo no Alto Minho, ali para as bandas de Molêdo. As influências foram o Atlântico na ponta do nariz, o monte de Santa Tecla no canto do olho e as estrelas na testa, porém, quando chegou a hora do baptismo, o fiel da balança pendeu para as constelações. Tudo em latim, pois assim ordenam os astrónomos e a minha particular estima por línguas mortas.
Quanto ao estilo, cabe-me dizer que as peças são essencialmente música ambiental com odor a maresia, ou então drones (zumbidos) densos como o nevoeiro nocturno tão típico daquela zona do país. Se preferirem, podem também ficar com a definição que o meu amigo Miguel deu há uns tempos, quando escutou o álbum pela primeira vez: “Isto é uma cena post-rave para gente cansada.”
Gostem ou desgostem, o trabalho está feito…
